You pay more for every visitor. Find out where they leave.

When CAC climbs, the usual answers are more ad creative, a redesign, or a test another brand swore by. Each one costs months and budget, and none of them tells you where your store loses buyers.

SplitBase's CRO audit answers that first. It's a two-week review of your store's data that shows where visitors drop off and why they leave. Every finding comes with what to do next: a fix your developers can ship, or a change worth A/B testing.

What we check in your CRO audit

A conversion rate optimization audit is only as good as its data. We start with your tracking, then follow your shoppers from the ad to the order confirmation.

Paid traffic and landing pages

Does the page match the ad that sent them, and how does each campaign’s traffic behave once it lands?

Homepage and navigation

What new visitors click first, and how fast they reach your best sellers.

Collection pages

Filters, sorting and product cards, and the point where shoppers stop comparing and leave.

Product pages

The buy box, offer and price display, reviews, and the objections the page leaves unanswered.

Cart and checkout

Shipping costs, free-shipping thresholds, upsells, and the step where orders drop.

Subscriptions and post-purchase

Subscription take rate, entry offers, and the path to a second order.

Tracking you can trust

We check GA4 events and revenue against Shopify before we read a single report.

Every segment

Mobile and desktop, new and returning visitors, each channel and each top landing page.

Speed and bugs

Mobile load times, app bloat, and errors by device and browser.

Where your audit fits in our 3Ps Method

Every test we run comes out of three kinds of research. Your CRO audit covers the first one in depth.

Patterns

In your audit

Behavioral data from GA4, Shopify, heatmaps and session recordings that shows where revenue leaks.

Perception

When you continue

Customer surveys, reviews and competitor research that show how shoppers see your brand and what holds them back.

Proof

When you continue

A/B tests that confirm which changes make you more money.

What you get in two weeks

An audit deck you keep. Every finding comes with the data behind it, a screenshot of the page and what we’d change. A recent one ran 38 slides.

A fix-now list. Tracking gaps, bugs and clear wins your developers can ship without a test.

A test plan. Hypotheses for your first 90 days of A/B tests, with the page, the metric and the traffic each test needs.

A live walkthrough. 60 to 90 minutes with your team to go through the findings and answer every question. Bring whoever signs off.

How the two weeks run

You give us read access. We do the rest.

Two-week plan: kickoff, tracking check, funnel by segment, heatmaps and recordings, fix and test plan, walkthrough

Day 1

Kickoff. A short call on your goals, your numbers and what you’ve already tried. Then read access to GA4, Shopify and your heatmap tool.

Week 1

Data. We check your tracking, then break down your funnel by device, channel, new and returning visitors, and landing page.

Week 2

Analysis. We watch heatmaps and recordings on the pages that leak the most, then decide what to fix and what to test.

End of week 2

Walkthrough. We present the findings live for 60 to 90 minutes and leave you with the deck.

A checklist audit vs. a SplitBase CRO audit

Many audits hand you a list of best practices. Tests built on another brand’s best practices often lose, because nobody checked them against your customers.

Get Your CRO Audit

What is a CRO audit?

+

A CRO audit is a review of your store’s data that shows where visitors drop off, why they leave, and what to fix or A/B test to win that revenue back. At SplitBase it takes about two weeks and ends with a live walkthrough of every finding with your team.

What does an ecommerce CRO audit include?

+

It covers your tracking, your funnel by segment, and every step from the ad to the order: landing pages, homepage and navigation, collection pages, product pages, cart and checkout, subscriptions and post-purchase. We use GA4, Shopify data, heatmaps and session recordings. You get an audit deck, a fix-now list, a test plan and a live walkthrough.

How much does a CRO audit cost?

+

Ours is one fixed fee that we share on a free 30-minute call, and it comes off your first month if you start a CRO program within 60 days. If the walkthrough isn’t useful, we refund it. Across the market, what an audit costs depends on how deep it goes: a heuristic review of a few pages costs far less than one built on your analytics, behavior data and customer research.

How long does a CRO audit take?

+

About two weeks, from the day we get access to your data to the walkthrough. If you don’t have a heatmap tool yet, we set up Microsoft Clarity first and let it collect data, which adds time.

What do you need from us?

+

A short kickoff call and read access to GA4, Shopify and your heatmap or session recording tool, such as Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar or Heatmap. Ad account access is optional. Nothing on your site changes during the audit.

How is a CRO audit different from a UX audit?

+

A UX audit asks whether shoppers can use your site without friction. A CRO audit covers that, ties each finding to your data and your revenue, and ends with a plan of fixes and A/B tests. A UX review is one input into a CRO audit.

Is the audit the same as a CRO program?

+

The audit is the diagnosis: what to fix and what to test. A CRO program acts on it every month with research, design, copy, development, QA and A/B tests. Many brands start with the audit to see how we think before they commit to a program.

Can our team implement the recommendations?

+

Yes. We write the fix-now list for your developers, and the test plan works with your A/B testing tool, such as Intelligems. Some brands ship the quick fixes themselves and hand us the tests.

Does the audit include customer surveys?

+

No. The audit focuses on behavioral data from GA4, Shopify, heatmaps and recordings. Customer surveys, review mining and competitor research happen in the CRO program, where they feed the next round of tests.

Do I need Shopify Plus for a Shopify CRO audit?

+

No. We audit Shopify and Shopify Plus stores. Plus gives you more control over checkout, so the checkout recommendations depend on your plan.

How much traffic do we need?

+

Fixes don’t need a test, so they help at any traffic level. A/B tests need volume. For each test in the plan we note the traffic it needs, and we flag where your traffic is too low to test and a straight change makes more sense.

Should we do a CRO audit before a redesign?

+

If you can, yes. The audit shows what already converts and what loses money, so the new site keeps what works. Redesigns that skip this step often look better and sell the same.

What happens after the audit?

+

You choose. Your team can act on the findings, or we can turn them into a CRO program. If you start a program within 60 days, the audit fee comes off your first month.

Is this the same as the Conversion Blueprint?

+

Yes. Conversion Blueprint is the name we’ve used for our CRO audit on sales calls. Same scope, same price and the same credit.

Who does the audit?

+

Our CRO strategists, the same team that runs testing programs for brands like Dr. Squatch, Hyperice and Kiehl’s. Together they’ve run more than 10,000 A/B tests on ecommerce stores.
